Preparing to Engage the Enemy
Most Christians does not talk about spiritual warfare, and if you look at their lives you the enemy is operating in their lives. Christians are empowered to defeat the enemy, although there are some prerequisites that must be met before we engage them in spiritual battle. Due to lack of knowledge, and preparation, most Christians are defeated before they even start to engage the enemy. To go to war we must be properly trained in battle strategies, and how to use weaponry and understand that we may never physically see our enemies.
(Ephesians 6:10-12) tells us that we are at war it reads: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The scripture above makes it clear that we are in a war and should not take it lightly, because we can get hurt in battle, and should understand that the enemy is out to destroy us. To be ready we must be spiritually prepared, be equipped with the word of God, walk in the spirit, and subdue our flesh. Because the enemy knows our weaknesses of the flesh, he will attack us most through that doorway. (Galatians 5:16-21) tells us of the war that we battle to subdue the flesh and the fleshes works, in which the enemy tries to manipulate us through.( 1 Peter 5:8) Also tells us: Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
We must learn to bring our flesh and emotions under subjection to the Word of God by the leading of the Holy Spirit, and submit to His voice. When the enemy tries to bring ungodly thought to us, the Holy Spirit will bring a scripture to mind to overcome the imaginations of the enemy, and then we must declare the Word of God and cast down the thought of the enemies.
We must exhibit the fruit of the spirit to wage a victorious warfare: (Galatians5:22-25) says – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us walk also in the Spirit. To battle victoriously we must pursue the Lord and the Lord’s things (His power, gifts, etc…) legally. We must crucify the flesh and submit ourselves to God, keep our minds on the things of God, remembering Christ our Savior, keep the Word of God and the name of Jesus( the two edged sword) ready on your tongue. Stay in prayer all times.
