What is Prayer?

Prayer is the practice of bringing God into your soul and life. Prayer is a time where pride is abandoned, when the heart is pure in its intentions and your soul is open to claiming dependence upon God, your maker.  Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian faith.  Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope before God, and time when a Christian can develop a intimate bond with the Lord.

The Bible speaks of prayer but, too often, we ignore prayer and seek to accomplish in life all things that are of our own will.  Prayer is a time to remember that God's will comes before our own and that the Lord's path for us is entirely at his will.  God is loving and He knows what is best for us and others, even if it doesn't always seem to make the most sense to us.

We so often come to the Lord with legitimate requests for our needs and yet the answers we hope for often do not come.  The word Faith means, "The belief, trust in and loyality to God." During prayer, we reaffirm our Faith and submit ourselves to God will. And though, someone's we may feel as though God has not answereed our prayers, we pray because we know that God hears us and because we desire to see results.  We should pray by faith, trusting God.  We should pray consistently and frequently.  We should pray for healing, trusting God.  We should pray for others, trusting God.  We should pray and when our prayers are answered or are not answered. Prayer and Faith are intertwined as a Christian.

Prayer changes the one praying because in prayer, you are in the presence of God as you lay before Him. In so doing, our hearts are quieted and pride is stripped and we enjoy the presence of God. James 4:18 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."

Prayer is the practice of bringing God into your soul and life.
